Collection
The AGS library is
an excellent resource for geoscience information and is available to government agencies, industry, students and members of the public.
The library manages a collection of over 150 journals and 25 000 books and documents. Our collection includes
- all AGS publications;
- federal and provincial/state geological survey documents;
- some ERCB publications;
- approximately 3000 Geological Survey of Canada maps;
- a microfiche collection of more than 1000 Alberta Mineral Assessment Reports; and
- maps, atlases and directories.
The AGS library is a partner in the NEOS Consortium, which is a central Alberta library consortium providing cost-effective and convenient access to information.
Service Information
- Open to the public Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and
1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Loan policy is 2 weeks plus 1 renewal
- Interlibrary loans are for 2 weeks plus delivery time with
1 renewal. Requests accepted by form, fax, telephone and e-mail.
- Photocopies are provided within copyright
laws.
The AGS library is a full, participating library within The Alberta Library (TAL) and able to issue new TAL cards, as well as add our library to existing TAL cards. For information about TAL go to www.thealbertalibrary.ab.ca
