- Abstract:
- This data set is a GIS version of the Alberta Geological Survey's published Map No. 226, which in turn is a regional synthesis of various published and unpublished maps. The data represent 100 m elevation contours of the bedrock subcrop for Alberta.
- Purpose:
- For depicting the topography of the bedrock surface and thalwegs of paleo-drainage systems at a 1:2 000 000 scale.
- Supplemental Information:
- The southern part of the province, from 49 to 56 degrees North, was primarily compiled from existing 1:250 000 bedrock topography maps. The interpretation of the remaining northern portion of the province was based mostly on limited borehole data and information from existing 1:250 000 hydrogeological maps.

- Digital MCAD files of elevation contours were exported to DXF format using Canvas 7.0.2 and CorelDraw 8.0, imported into ArcInfo 7.2, then georeferenced using the Arc TRANSFORM command. Line features were tagged with elevation values using ArcInfo 7.2 and/or ArcView 3.2a.
