Abstract:
This shapefile was created based on the extremes of latitude and longitude that describe published AGS maps. It serves as an index map showing which parts of Alberta have been mapped for what subject matter, or theme, and at what scale. Information about the maps can be obtained by querying the layer with the interactive map; results include the AGS map number, title (which hyperlinks to an expanded information page), date published, map type (aggregate, bedrock geology, bedrock topography, drift thickness, hydrogeology, surficial geology and miscellaneous others), and a hyperlink to a pdf version of the map itself.
Purpose:
This data is served as a layer in AGS' interactive maps and enables users to view and make point-and-click style queries in the context of other geological spatial data.
