Gas Production from the Viking

Gas production from the Vikmg is widespread and extensive in southern, central and western Alberta, northeast B.C. and western Saskatchewan. The B.C. fields occur in the Peace River Block and immediately to the south. There is no Viking gas production in northern Alberta or B.C. or in central or eastern Saskatchewan.

Included are fields producing from the Viking, Bow Island, Basal Colorado, Peace River Group, Paddy and Cadotte.

There are 75 Viking gas fields with Initial Established Marketable Gas Reserves of over 1000 x 106m3 (35 BCF), with 69 in Alberta, 4 in Saskatchewan and 2 in B.C. The ten largest Viking gas fields, listed in order of Initial Established Marketable gas reserves, are shown in Table 1. Cumulative production data for Alberta and British Columbia are updated to the end of 1990 and for Saskatchewan to the end of 1989.
