Gas Production from the Dunvegan

Gas production from the Dunvegan occurs primarily in western Alberta. Included are fields producing from the Dunvegan and Doe Creek.

There are four Dunvegan gas fields with Initial Established Marketable Gas Reserves of over 1000 x 106m3 (35 BCF). These four largest Dunvegan gas fields, listed in order of Initial Established Marketable gas reserves, are shown in Table 1. Cumulative production data for Alberta are updated to the end of 1990.

Valhalla is in northwest Alberta, and the remaining three fields are in west-central Alberta.

Total recoverable gas reserves in the Dunvegan are estimated at 18.7 x 109m3, of which 4 5 x 109m3 have already been produced. Initial Established In-Place Volume of Dunvegan gas reserves totals 29 x 109m3. There are a total of 139 Dunvegan gas pools, with an average 135 x 106m3 recoverable gas reserves/pool. Table 2 lists the distribution of Dunvegam gas reserves according to In-Place Pool Size.
