Map 236 depicts the bedrock geology of Alberta at 1:1,000,000 scale. It is a compilation based on Map 27, published in 1972. Revisions of Map 27 are based on new mapping by the Alberta Geological Survey and the Geological Survey of Canada, and by the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists through the contribution of its membership to the Geological Atlas of the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin. The map shows the formation and geological age of the bedrock subcrop, as well as the nature of the contacts between formations.
