These are GIS shapefiles, not graphic files.
You will need a GIS application or ESRI's free GIS viewer to look at the shapefiles.
Below is a list of Alberta lakes with links to digital bathymetry GIS data.
We captured the data from historical hydrographic survey maps that we digitized and digitally modelled to produce a continuous surface for each lakebed. There are 3 datasets for each of the 169 lakes: shoreline contours, bathymetry contours (both shapefiles) and ASCII lakebed grids.
