Oil production from the Lower Mannville is scattered throughout southern, central
and western Alberta, southwest amd southeast Saskatchewan amd northeast B.C. near
the Peace River Block. There is no Lower Mannville oil production in northern Alberta
or northern B.C. Included are fields producmg from the Gething, Bullhead, Cadomin,
Basal Ouartz, Ellerslie, McMurray, Dina, Sunburst, Cut Bank and Taber.
There ane 25 Lower Mannville oil fields (21 in Alberta, 3 in Saskatchewan amd 1 in
B.C.) with Initial Established Recoverable Oil Reserves of over 1 x 106 m3 (6 MMBbls). The ten largest Lower Mannville oil fields, listed in order
of Initial Established Recoverable Reserves, are shown m Table 1. Cumulative production
data for Alberta and British Columbia are updated to the end of 1990 and for Saskatchewan
to the end of 1989.

Abmost all Lower Mannvile oil production is from stratigraphic traps, and occurs
in valley-fill sands developed on the umderlymg Pre-Cretaceous unconformity. Note
that the five Mannville/Blairmone fields are often assigned to the Upper Mannville,
however they actually produce from the Lower Mannville Ellerslie, Cut Bank or Taber.
Total recoverable oil reserves in the Lower Mannville are estimated at 106 x 106m3,
of which 73 x 106m3 have already been produced. Initial Established
In-Place Volume of Lower Mannville oil neserves totals 707 x 106m3.
There are 1109 Lower Mannville oil pools, with an average 95 x 103m3 recoverable oil reserves/pool. Table 2 lists the distribution of Lower Mannville
oil reserves according to In-Place Pool Size.
